A three in one review

This review is going to be a little different since this title is more of a collection of 3D Mario games than a total remake, but lets get into it.

Super Mario 64

I did not grow up with it, but I have played the totally real, 100% not emulated version when I got older. All I can really say about it is that some of the speed running tricks like the BLJ has been patched, there has been a resolution increase, and the icons have been redone in HD.
Good port

Super Mario Sunshine

Unlike Super Mario 64 I did grow up Sunshine. There are a few things I wish they would add like a skip button for the cutscenes that took hours to finish, but all of what they did was add HD icons, a better resolution, removed the weird blur from the GameCube. They did a good job of porting it, but there was also a bug I found where peach’s earrings turn into her eye texture for the beginning cutscene.
Good port

Super Mario Galaxy

Honestly Super Mario Galaxy is one of the only reasons I bought the collection in the first place because it brought back so many memories of one of my first 100% completed 3D Mario games, so I might be a little biased. One of the first things I noticed was with my detached joy-cons, it had a weird delay to all inputs so I used a pro-controller and it just magically disappeared. After that realization I was a bit disappointed I couldn’t use the joy-cons like a Wii remote and a nunchuck, but the controls on the pro-controller does do the game justice making it feel natural while playing.
Good port

Overall

Overall its a good collection that brings some of the 3D classics to the Switch. Although there are somethings I wish Nintendo would clarify beforehand like how the digital version along with the physical version would be a timed exclusive, which is just a poor excuse to stop emulation.
For the final verdict I would say buy the game if you have not experienced any of the 3D Mario games yet, and if you have experienced the games its just a port that you play on the go.
